Lets Go Dolphins

Fins Win Again

Alright alright, so it is the preseason and the games don’t count for anything. However, for a team in need of a confidence boost after a 1-15 season, a good preseason that showcases the talent’s of the team and the positives of the new management, coaching staff, and schemes is important.

Saturday’s 24-0 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs showed the many different and important steps forward the Dolphins have made already this preseason. Ted Ginn Jr finally looks like a wide receiver deserving of the No. 9 overall draft pick selection. Ginn returned a punt 59 yards for a TD and caught 3 passes for 29 yards. Chad Pennington looks very comfortable with his new team as was 11-15 passing for 94 yds and a TD to TE Anthony Fasano.

Finally, Ricky Williams looked fantastic again and frankly, he might have many people in Miami saying “Ronnie who?” come mid season. Ronnie Brown sat out of Saturday’s game with a bruised right thumb and has seen Williams make the most of his absence, rising to #1 on the depth chart. The Dolphins were hoping to use a one, two punch with Williams and Brown in the lineup this year. From what I’ve seen, they won’t need Brown’s services if Williams continues to play as he has in the preseason as he seems more than capable of carrying the load himself.

I think Ricky should get the nod as the starter...He is injury free in his career, save two freak injuries...Ronnie on the other hand is like his college teammate Carnell in Tampa Bay, good starts but their bodies wear down and they get injured mid season

It is nice to see the Dolphins win, but, it is just the preseason. It doesn't count, and half the teams aren't trying. Look at the Patriots, if you were to give them a preseason letter grade as to how they'll play in the regular season, you'd say they're going to be one of the worst teams in the NFL. That, and Chiefs are going to be one of the 2 or 3 worst teams in the league this year. As my old man would say, "Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then".

I don't think people will be saying Ronnie who. Remember, Brown was the best back in the league last year in terms of production before his injury. Assuming he bounces back well from the injury, he could be right back up at the top of the stats columns.

Its a long 16 game season, and injuries happen. Maybe the fins do start the season with just Ricky as their running back and Ronnie on the sidelines. But the season gets to be a grind, even for the young guys, and injuries can happen. Having Ricky start the season, and Ronnie eventually able to come in a spell Ricky, and who knows, maybe even take over later in the season as the #1 back can only help the fins avoid a late season fish fry!
