The Miami Dolphins took the 16th pick and Nick Saban upgraded by selecting CB Jason Allen out of University of Tennessee. The guy is coming off a hip injury and can either play safety or cornerback. Nick Saban loves height and athleticism. This kid has both, I just think they could’ve gotten someone on defense in the 3rd round.

The selection to me was a little off key. I felt there was too much offensive talent this high in the draft such as WR’S Santonio Holmes [OSU] and Chad Jackson [UF]. 3 Strong RB that could spell Ronnie Brown: Joseph Addai [LSU], Laurence Maroney [Minn.], and DeAngelo Williams [Memphis].

In the 3rd round Nick Saban went for Offense selecting WR Derek Hagan [ASU] a 3time all Pac ten team player. He was a great receiver and made some big catches for this team. He might be the deep threat the Dolphins were looking for, however I think this 3rd round pick will be a bust. One of those journeyman who gave all they had in college. Again I felt they missed the key on this pick. OL Eric Winston was on the board 4 spots before they selected I think he was a potential 1st rounder who slipped they shouldve moved up and solidified another Offensive Line Player.

I give the 16th pick a C- I don’t think he will be a starter and when you draft that high you must draft a starter.
I give the 82nd pick a C+ The guy can catch , just dont think hes a deep threat. Again not a starter.

I personally wouldn’t mind the dolphins selecting a speed burner like Chad Jackson from UF. Position WR Chris Chambers and TE Randy McMicheal are already threats. Complementing them with a deep threat on the other side just might be what the Dolphins need coupled with a healthy Daunte Culpepper to make a run at the Lombardi Trophy.

If they go defense they will most likely go CB position considering the loss of Sam madison to the NYG. I think Nick Saban coaching style he would want a tall lanky CB. If CB Mike Huff , Texas, is available at #16 it wouldnt suprise me if he takes him.

So who knows offense or defense? Please just don’t let it be a bust.

Saints pick #2 and have already discussed trades with Jets , Titans, and 4 other teams trying to get a shot at Reggie Bush. The Dolphins select #16.

1 Year Suspension

Rumors are flying about the possibility of RB Ricky Williams who has been suspended by the NFL for violating their Substance Abuse Policy. Apparently he has drawn interest from the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. Lets put this baby to rest. NFL Rules state that while under suspension, Williams cannot play for any other league, which was confirmed by the Dolphins. It would be an insult to the NFL to allow a player who has failed drug tests more than three times to play for another organization from another league.

Sage Rosenfels came in the game in the 3rd quarter and came back from a 17-10 deficit to win the game 24-20 at Dolphins stadium. Gus Frerotte sprained a finger at the end of the second quarter which led Coach Nick Saban to start Sage for the 2nd half. He started off very slow with 3 in and out drives on his 1st 5 possesions. Late in the fourth quarter trailing 17-10 he made some big throws and receivers Wes Welker and Marty Booker stepped up. Ricky Williams showed some of that old speed scampering for 17 yard TD to tie the game 17-17. Midway through the 4th quarter Marty Booker seperated himself from 2 defenders and broke a 50 yard TD reception take the lead 24-17. The stingy Dolphins defense gave up a FG to make it 24-20 but never budged again in the contest. Zach Thomas and rookie 4th rounder Matt Roth {Iowa} made big plays down the stretch. Matt Roth had a sack and a fumble recovery late in the game to solidify the Miami Dolphins getting to .500 ball for the second time this year 7-7.

On another note I felt like San Diego was gonna win this game. Gut feeling since last thursday. Glad to see one of the greatest records in football history still standing. Hats off to those Indianapolis Colts but a toast of Champagne to those 1972 17-0 UNDEFEATED MIAMI DOLPHINS!!!!!!!!

Fear the Miami Dolphins. Noone wants to play this team. This is the team that was envisioned at the beginning of the season. A team that can throw the ball down field and make big plays. Lets say New England loses this week. Miami wins. We have a legitimate shot at Winning our division. We still play New England in the warm weather. Miami is on a roll right now and I don’t think they will be stopped. Remember the Jets and Tennessee are not easy wins but they should win both. Setting up a final game at New England for maybe the division. With Tom Brady banged up it wouldn’t suprise me to go out on a limb and say MIAMI DOLPHINS WIN THE AFC EAST AND GOTO THE PLAYOFFS AND BEAT THE UNDEFEATED INDIANPOLIS COLTS AND MAKE SOME NOISE. IT COULD BE CINDERELLA TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG DID I JUST SAY BEAT THE COLTS?

The Miami Dolphins Offensive line got the big F this week regarding grades. They allowed the 1st ranked Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense to score a TD and record 3 sacks in the 3rd and 4th quarter to break the game open. Very dissatisfied the way they didn’t have enough time to throw and get the timing down. They lost a tough road game and showed they can’t fall behind in a game or they are in trouble. They need consistency in RB and that will come when the line is in sync. The schedule does not get any easier the rest of the way.

In order for the Miami Dolphins to have success on the road they will have to throw the ball and convert 3rd downs. Look for Gus Frerotte to try and get Chris Chambers off early with the deep ball. Also the running game if some success early should open up passing lanes to Randy McMicheal. They need to score points and score early to put the doubt in Tampa Bay Buccaneers minds. Also Special Teams play has been a huge dissappointment up till today. If the Miami Dolphins gonna have a shot they need good field position. Wes Welker needs to step up and make some plays. No stupid penalties. Miami set a record last week for 18 penalties. No dumb ones today. Nick good coaching and the Dolphins walk away with a huge victory today~!!!!!!
